Since announcing our "What true broadband means to me" video contest on September 6th we received some feedbacks from skeptics - not because of the contest rules, but because of the not-yet-released prize. Well all that is over. Today, Apple announced that it is releasing a video iPod.
Blogs like ALT1040, the iPod Observer, iHeartApple and a burst of light thought we had the “inside scoop” because we've been offering a free Apple Video iPod. Others including The Unofficial Apple Blog and Digital Tech Life, questioned whether our contest is legitimate or just a big hoax.
C4CC is about the future. The question is when will the future arrive where we can use all these neat gadgets and true broadband to help change our world. We're extending the deadline to November 2nd in order to give all the recent skeptics a chance to create their video. Also, we're going to give away an Apple video iPod to the top TWO best contestants because Apple did such a great job of keeping the price low. The official rules will be updated shortly.
We hope that people are interested in the contest, not just for the prize, but for the bigger picture - to push legislature allowing compeition in the cable market. Help us show Congress what consumers want. Submit your video showing us what you would do with true broadband and you could win an Apple Video iPod.
As stated in our blog entry from September 7th:
We know that consumers should not be content with the choice of programming that cable companies provide and the so called "high speed" of cable modems and DSL. We also know that convergence is coming - the lines between the Internet and TV are disappearing. Bloggers imaginations about the future has a way of becoming reality.
