Channel Changer makes a great point that a lot of tech bloggers are overly focused on gadgets and are not paying attention to the revolutionary potential of IPTV:
IPTV technology is not new. Neither is it difficult to deploy. The question is whether or not regulators will allow it to be deployed on a broad enough scale to make it a revolutionary technology as opposed the fetish of tech enthusiast and amateur Internet-based television show hosts.
If state and/or federal regulators modernize franchising regulations, then IPTV will become something worth cheering about. Until then, all the neat gadgets are essentially worth nothing.
This really is the crux of the matter. Patrizia at VOIP nicely puts, with a little technical jargon, the impact of true high-speed broadband on how we live. IPTV is the future. Consumers deserve this future sooner, rather than later.
