Motley Fool, the irreverent investment news website, has a great piece up today about the impact on cable companies when a true facilities based competitor invades their turf. Their upshot: consumers win! Another juicy tidbit to consider: only 4% of communities nationwide have real competition in the cable market place. The article goes on:
Voter-accountable county and city executives are eager to please their base by introducing price-hike-squelching competition. With the line between "cable company" and "phone company" beginning to blur, such competition may soon become a reality for more and more consumers.
Competition brings real benefits to consumers. Better prices, better quality, more control.
