We still remain optimistic that national franchise reform for consumers will pass Congress this year and signed into law by the President. In the House, the last step is a vote by the full House of Representatives which is expected the first week of June after the Memorial Day break. In the Senate, Chairman Ted Stevens (Alaska) held a hearing this past Thursday where their appeared a growing consensus on granting consumers video choice through franchise reform. He plans several more hearings and expects the Senate Commerce committee to markup his bill late in June.
